This is a reissue of D. T. Suzukis version from 1932. The book is 352 pages in A5 format.

It was handed down from the founder of Chinese Zen, Bodhidharma, to the Second Patriarch, Huike, saying: "I have here the Laṅkāvatāra in four fascicles which I now pass to you. It contains the essential teaching concerning the mind-ground of the Tathagata, by means of which you lead all sentient beings to the truth of Buddhism."

In other words: Lanka is the ideological foundation of Zen Buddhism.

Over de næste seks lørdage har alle med interesse for zenbuddhisme mulighed for at deltage i et intensivt formiddagskursus om en af zenbuddhismens vigtigste tekster: Diamant Sutraen. Kurset ledes af zenmester Denko John Mortensen og foregår på Egely Kloster Taikyoji i Østermarie. Klostret beder om en donation på kr. 600 i forbindelse med tilmeldingen, som kan ske via klostrets hjemmeside eller ved fremmøde på kursets første dag, 19. februar, kl. 9:30. For jer, som gerne vil være med til morgen zazen, starter vi med en sidning kl. 8:30.

Diamant Sutraen, en af de tidlige buddhistiske sutraer, er som en diamant, idet Buddhaens ord hjælper os med at skære igennem illusioner; de er stærke, skarpe og skinnende som diamanten. Sutraen indledes med den berømte sætning: "Dette har jeg hørt" og slutter med det berømte og poetiske vers:

Alle betingede fænomener, alle sammensatte ting
Er som en drøm, en illusion, en boble og en skygge;
Er som en dugdråbe og et lynglimt.
Således skal vi betragte dem.

Program for de første fire måneder af 2011 er nu hovedsageligt på plads.

We will 'conduct' extra public zazen periods at Egely Monastery in the week up to Awakening Day (Bodhi Day) of Shakyamuni Buddha.

From December 1 until December 8 in the morning there will be these zazen periods: 6:15-7 and 19:15-20:40 every day.

This is a wonderful time of the year to sit more than usual since hundreds of zen monasteries and -temples conduct sesshin these days. There is an intense and serious energi 'in the air'.

We need to plan the program for 2011 within the next couple of weeks.

Therefore we would like to hear, what you would like to participate in - and when.

Already planned (almost) is a course in the Diamond Sutra running 8 saturdays (2 hours each) plus a 3-months kessei in spring.
